IF THE WORLD WAS YOURS TO CREATE, WHAT SHAPE WOULD IT TAKE?

Are things really the best they could possibly be? Could people lead more satisfying lives? Could there be less wars? Less disease? Less poverty?

We are a young couple comprised of a writer and an engineer that have become disillusioned about the current world. We decided to start writing a book about possible solutions and alternatives to our current social structures and systems while giving people the opportunity to use their long neglected political voices. We are also trying to develop cost efficient technology that can be accessed by all. In support of this collaborative writing project (which you can find for free under "The Book" section of this website), we are traveling around the world on a 2011 KLR650 dirtbike to garner support for our book, but also to challenge the commonly accepted views on what it is we truly need to survive and be happy. We are trying to talk to as many people as possible in order to affect our current perspectives and gain input for our book which we hope will have a positive social impact.

The book project is to integrate different perspectives into what we hope will create viable solutions to social, political and economical problems. Everyone is encouraged to read and comment to help the collective ideas evolve and move forward. This not for profit book is an attempt to promote a community with a deep spirit of cooperation and the aim of benefiting the greater good.

The engineering portion of this project is geared toward returning the engineering power to the people and removing the political and profit driven hoarding of technology from the corporate establishment. Every project is open for suggestions and possible alterations, we are also very open to anyone who would like to share their own projects. We are currently working on a cheap alternative source of energy using a solar thermal design constructed of common, inexpensive materials.

As for the trip, it is an experiment to see what we really need to live and be happy . Our hypothesis is that the ideas of covenience and comfort are an illusion that hold us back from truly living. We have given up our place of residence and now live in our tent that packs on to our bike. The only possesions we have are the things we can fit in our saddle bags and no more. We are trying to challenge the generally accepted views of needs and wants.  As we travel, we are talking to a wide range of people to experience different ways of viewing the world to expand the way we think and to encourage participation in the book. You can follow our progress in the "Trip" section of this website.

A better World?

First off; You've chosen a great motorcycle to tour the planet. I also ride a Kawasaki but it's a ZX12R Ninja & my wife rides a GSX-R 750 Suzuki. We both believe that the monetary system should be done away with & every human being classed as equals. Everything that we need like a home, food, vehicles dental, medical etc. should be free & everyone living without disabilities & are below the age of 35 should work for (free too) 4 to 6 hours a day for 4 days a week at a job that their education (also free) & capabilities allow them to with any labor intensive occupations being automated. Population has to be controlled & enforced to allow the human race to have an equilibrium with our resources & with the least impact on the environment & other life such as animals. Mothers of young children should stay at home to raise them. Our government would be representatives with no power over anything. Any laws or important decisions have to be voted on by the worlds total population. The human race should work together to explore outer space for resources & colonization. Everyone should speak one language. All living areas should be engineered to be disaster proof. This would put an end to suffering, jealousy & abuse except to those who like to invoke it on others. I could go on & on but I'm sure you get the idea? PLEASE send me some pictures of your bike & where you have been?
Thanks Henning

What you so naively describe as a perfect world has been tried before, it’s called communism. Millions died living in the so called perfect world and thousands died trying to escape it to good old capitalism…it’s not perfect but it’s the best system you will have the good fortune to live under, thank god that you do.
